This is a box of incense sticks similar to Papier d'Arménie or Armenian papers and they are those rare, traditional European apothecary and lifestyle find that make requisite and unique gifts (especially to yourself!). Carta Eritrea incense papers are made in Italy and when you light one, it will perfume your space. Made with the finest essential oils from the Atlas Mountains. Original Eritrean Paper Incense was first made in 1927 and is a fresh fragrance prepared with cedarwood sweetened by vanilla, patchouli, and mastic from the Greek island of Kios. Reminiscent of the sunny and warm Mediterranean coast with its bright blue waters, the formula was reconstructed after its discovery in the diary of Dr. Vittoriano Casanova, written more than 80 years ago, Blue Carta Aromatica d’Eritrea – Essence du Touareg (Blue Aromatic Paper of Eritrea) has finally come to light and is now available for you to enjoy. This is for 1 box of 24 sticks, the sticks are 16 cm long. Carta Aromatica d'Eritrea is a traditional paper incense made from a formula comprised of 35 resins and essential oils, by an entirely manual process, that purifies and scents the air. It is 100% natural and ecological and, its fragrance is uplifting. You may also be interested in another European heritage brand of incense papers from France. They are the Papier d'Arménie incense papers from Paris (Traditional, La Rose, and Arménie fragrances) which we also stock. Carta Aromatica d'Eritrea has been sold for almost 80 years in the same original format, the famous "booklets" of 24 strips to be slowly burst in order to spread the incredible fragrance that is appreciated and in great demand all over the world since the beginning of last century. HOW TO USE Light the tip of one of the sticks and blow out the flame so that the tip is glowing red and giving off incense smoke. Place it on a fireproof bowl filled with sand, ash, or gravel (we also sell burners). The stick will gently smolder away, and will completely burn itself out releasing the perfume of the resins and oils. Please be careful with the lit incense stick. You can also use the strips to perfume clothing, place one or more strips of paper in drawers or closets, in bags, suitcases, and so on. HISTORY The history of the Aromatic Incense Papers of Eritrea began in 1927. Dr. Victor Casanova, a pharmacist, during a trip to Eritrea and Somalia became aware of the use of resins and natural essences to perfume and purify the palaces of North Africa. Back in Italy, Dr. Casanova formulated a paper incense of Aromatic Eritrea, whose composition has remained unchanged to this day. Also, the heritage method of manufacturing remains the same, and essences and resins are still exclusively imported from Asian and African countries. These rare, natural ingredients are pulverized by hand using a mortar and pestle, dissolved in pure alcohol, and combined with essential oils. The traditional paper is soaked in the fragrant blend and left to steep for several days, then the sheets are painstakingly dried and cut to create the historical booklets or librettos of 24 sheets, ready to spread their delicate scent and create an extraordinary ambiance in the home.
